It began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, but today it has broadened its scope and influence through inclusion of topics from science and business to education, arts and global issues disseminating ideas and experiences in more than 100 languages. 

TED welcomes individuals from every discipline and culture who seek a deeper understanding of the world and those who are eager to build connections with others through sharing new outlooks and understanding. With the aim to create a better world for humanity concerning both the present and the future,TED emphasizes the power of ideas to create that transformative and progressive world for all.

About TEDxMaitighar

TEDx Maitighar is an officially licensed TED event, which aims to bring the spirit of TED’s mission of “ideas spreading” to local communities around the globe. The event is one of the few licensed TED talks in Nepal. After the grand success of the past editions in 2019, 2021 and 2023, TEDx Maitighar aims to continue in carrying out the mission of exploring and sharing worthwhile ideas locally through the 4th edition in 2024.

Encompassing the harmonious interaction between varieties of existing diversities and differences, TEDx Maitighar 2024 aims to navigate the social canvases by fostering meaningful conversations through the theme “Diverse Dimensions: A Kindred Kaleidoscope”.

The theme chosen for this edition is “DIVERSE DIMENSIONS: A KINDRED KALEIDOSCOPE” where “Diverse” means having a lot of differences, like in cultures, perspectives, backgrounds, and more & “Dimensions” suggest different facets or aspects, going beyond just physical things to include intellectual, emotional, cultural, and societal aspects.
