TEDxMaitighar is an officially licensed TED event, which aims to bring the spirit of TED’s mission of ideas worth spreading to local communities around the globe. The event is one of the few licensed TED talks that have been licensed in Nepal and aims to spread idea related to the theme that it has committed to the young people. Its theme for this session is “Tireless Striving”. Without an infinite amount of hard work and never-ending hunger, barely anything is achievable. Struggling and striving to attain goals is all we live for. In the stream of life, we all fall. It’s up to us to continue or quit. The theme ‘tireless striving’ is all about struggles that sensations make on the road to glory. In the world we live in now, the internet has just highlighted the face of success, not the unlimited efforts invested to make the days count. Not just about defying the odds, but the strong willpower, the audacity to make anything happen are the ones that make one stand out. Here, at TEDxMaitighar, we are trying to create a platform to talk about ups and downs and the attitude that successful people use to deal with all the storm. We are committed to creating an event where participants are challenged to communicate their passions in an exciting and engaging dialogue. The format of TEDxMaitighar will allow speakers and attendees to digest and debate the talks and encourage the exchange of ideas and information amongst all participants. TEDxMaitighar, therefore, is a unique opportunity for members of the youth community to share their ambitions for our collective future.
TED vs TEDx
TED is an annual event where some of the world’s leading thinkers and doers are invited to share what they are most passionate about. “TED” stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design — three broad subject areas that are collectively shaping our future. Attendees have called it “the ultimate brain spa” and “a four-day journey into the future.” The diverse audience of CEOs, scientists, creatives, philanthropists is almost as extraordinary as the speakers, such as Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Frank Gehry, Paul Simon, Sir Richard Branson, Philippe Starck and Bono. Today, more than 500 talks from past TED conferences can be viewed online at TED.com. As opposed to the annual TED conferences, TEDx events happen frequently all over the world and are independently organized. These local, self-started events are branded TEDx, where x=independently organized TED event. The TED conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program.
